Police in New Jersey are warning residents that are in the flood zone to watch out for scam artists that are trying to make money off of the Hurricane Irene disaster.
In Ewing Township, two men claimed that they were surveying the area for storm damage when they were really burglarizing a home. One of the men told the homeowner to go the backyard with him so that they could survey the damage, while the other man went into the home.
When the homeowner saw the second man leaving the home, both men ran off. A spokesperson for the county has told homeowners to make sure they see credentials from anyone who claims to be assessing storm damage.
