Criminal using of prescription medications is a problem that is becoming increasingly more frequent. Due to the the potent and addictive nature of painkillers, opiates and psychotropic prescription medication, legitimate use can turn to illegal possession, intent to sell medications and in some cases pharmaceutical drug fraud. Pharmaceutical drugs are regarded as being Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) under New Jersey Law and could only be possessed or dispensed as authorized by law. The manner in which prescriptions are put into writing by physicians and dispensed by pharmacists and pharmacies is outlined in the New Jersey CDS Laws.
